EUREKA!!!!!!!!!!! I am a new reader of your blog but I am not new to low carb. I have missed bread so, so badly. I have tried the low carb tortillas and even tried a paleo bread recipe but nothing gave me that feeling that I was actually eating a yummy sandwich. Enter the cream cheese pancake. I made them for the first time last night. I have actually dubbed them “crepes” as I think mine came out thinner than an actual pancake. But who cares!! They are so yummy. I haven’t tried them for breakfast with sf syrup yet but I intend to. Today I’m in the midst of your three-day keto kickstart so I’m eating ham, cheese and spinach rolled in the “pancake” with a drizzle of ranch dressing. I feel like I’ve discovered electricity! ha! I am officially an avid follower. Keep up the good work! I can’t wait to try the avocado-based chocolate desserts-made some last night. By the way, no need to include “optional” on bourbon as an ingredient. That’s just a waste of ink. LOL!! Thanks again for doing all the work so your readers (including me) are able to reap the benefits! :)

Wow, Jenny! I’m so glad you were able to shine with your dessert. I love getting compliments on my cooking and I’m sure you did, too. I’m not sure why the top of yours became more brown. All ovens are different and I have noticed that my mother’s wall oven, which is smaller than my free-standing range, cooks hotter and faster than mine. I hope you all enjoyed your husband’s birthday! I appreciate you taking the time to come back and tell me about it. Have a wonderful week. -Kim

But sadly, whether due to government subsidy of high carb foods like corn and grain, funding from big companies like Gatorade and Powerbar, our sugar-addicted Western palates, or the constant (unfounded) fear mongering about saturated fats and heart disease, the type of research that shows these fat-burning and performance benefits of carbohydrate restriction simply get shoved under the rug.

Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add 2/3 of the heavy cream (2 cups (473 mL)) and powdered erythritol. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Simmer for 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is thick, coats the back of a spoon and volume is reduced by half. It will also pull away from the pan as you tilt it. (This will go faster if you use a larger pan.)

It is important for you to keep a written list of all of the prescription and nonprescription (over-the-counter) medicines you are taking, as well as any products such as vitamins, minerals, or other dietary supplements. You should bring this list with you each time you visit a doctor or if you are admitted to a hospital. It is also important information to carry with you in case of emergencies.
Twenty elite ultra-marathoners and ironman distance triathletes performed a maximal graded exercise test and a 180 min submaximal run at 64% VO2max on a treadmill to determine metabolic responses. One group habitually consumed a traditional high-carbohydrate (HC: n = 10, %carbohydrate:protein:fat = 59:14:25) diet, and the other a low-carbohydrate (LC; n = 10, 10:19:70) diet for an average of 20 months (range 9 to 36 months).
Weigh your ingredients. This will forever be a staple recommendation for any sort of gluten free baking here at gnom-gnom. As aside from leading to less dirty dishes, it will ensure consistent results time and time again. Remember that gluten free (and particularly keto) baking is notoriously finicky, and measuring by cups is anything but accurate. And if you don’t own a baking scale, measure with cups by dropping the ingredients onto them rather than scooping them out (which often leads to overpacking).
I used greek yogurt instead of sour cream and it worked well. Same as many of the other comments, I did not get as much rise as I was hoping for (after 90 minutes), but the bread is very tasty with a nice crumb. I cut into 16 slices. One thing I was wondering, your recipe for cinnamon buns has 2 packets of yeast, this has only one. Would adding more yeast help rise better?
I don’t usually comment on these things but I’ve been looking for a low carb pancake recipe for a while I’ve tried quite a few that were not so great these came out amazing I did listen to comments and added a half a teaspoon of baking powder and some vanilla so good can’t wait to try these with my special chocolate chips thank you for this recipe I will keep it and pass it on to all my other keto friends

Wondering what fits into a keto diet — and what doesn’t? “It’s so important to know what foods you’ll be eating before you start, and how to incorporate more fats into your diet,” says Kristen Mancinelli, RD, author of The Ketogenic Diet: A Scientifically Proven Approach to Fast, Healthy Weight Loss, who is based in New York City. We asked her for some guidelines.
Why does the ketogenic diet cause electrolyte imbalances? The key reason is that dietary carbohydrate restriction reduces insulin release. Insulin signals cells in the body to absorb glucose in the bloodstream, but it also signals the kidneys to reabsorb/store more water.5 Lower insulin levels (as a result of decreased carb intake) means the kidneys now store less water. This results in dehydration and the flushing out of electrolytes in the process.6 Changes also occur in parts of our body where carbohydrates are stored, such as the liver and muscle. Stored carbohydrates (glycogen) trap three grams of water per gram of glycogen—so when these stores are depleted on keto, the associated water is also lost. This further contributes to the reduced amount of water and electrolytes in the body.
If you’ve got a sweet tooth, it’s highly unlikely you’ll want to give up the creamy, decadent dessert that is cheesecake. But if you’re following the ketogenic diet, you know that regular cheesecake isn’t exactly low carb. In fact, one small piece of cheesecake, on average, can contain up to 45 grams of carbs per slice—which means it could easily have you kissing ketosis goodbye. That is, unless you’re up for the task of making your own keto cheesecake at home… (and we’re willing to bet this will become one of your favorite low-carb recipes).
Ketorolac is a potent nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug (NSAID) that produces analgesia similar to an opioid μ-agonist such as morphine or oxymorphone for some types of pain. Ketorolac is available in oral and parenteral formulations. The mechanism of action is similar to other NSAIDs (see Chapter 10), and ketorolac should be used with caution because there may be a high incidence of side effects.
On July 2013, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning that taking ketoconazole orally can cause severe liver injuries and adrenal gland problems. It recommends Nizoral oral tablets should not be a first-line treatment for any fungal infection. Nizoral should be used for the treatment of certain fungal infections, known as endemic mycoses, only when alternative antifungal therapies are not available or tolerated.[31]

Thanks for the prompt reply! I’ve successfully conquered day two and looking forward to seeing if the keto stix work in my favor on. Monday. I lost a fair amount doing ideal protein but the thought of going back to powdered foods is completely unappealing. I’m so happy to have a plan in place! We had the buffalo wings tonight and oh my gosh (!!!) they were delicious!! My husband wants me to make them again. The recipe couldn’t be more simple. Thank you for sharing your wonderful knowledge and amazing recipes!!!
A person with diabetes developing diabetic ketoacidosis may have one or more of these symptoms excessive thirst or drinking lots of fluid, frequent urination, general weakness, vomiting, loss of appetite, confusion, abdominal pain, shortness of breath, a generally ill appearance, and dry skin or mouth, increased heart rate, low blood pressure (hypotension), increased rate of breathing, and a distinctive fruity odor on the breath.
Since originally publishing this article, I’ve been asked whether elevating blood ketones with exogenous sources could trigger a ketone-induced release of insulin that would theoretically reduce hepatic ketogenesis and perhaps slow fat mobilization. This makes sense since you are putting more energy into the system in general (from exogenous ketones), so there would be less need to draw off your own fat stores.
Burns fat: You can drop a lot of weight — and quickly — on the keto diet.[3] Ketones suppress ghrelin — your hunger hormone — and increase cholecystokinin (CCK), which makes you feel full.[4] Reduced appetite means it’s easier to go for longer periods without eating, which encourages your body to dip into its fat stores for energy. Learn more here about the keto diet and weight loss.
The brain requires a lot of energy. This is likely why it is one of the most heavily concentrated areas of mitochondria in the body. Given the previous benefits mentioned, the benefits of ketosis for mitochondria naturally provide a benefit for brain power as well. As mitochondria are enhanced with a cleaner energy source, there is a substantial decrease in inflammation throughout the body, a primary driver of neurological issues (5).
Store at room temperature away from light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medications away from children and pets.Do not flush medications down the toilet or pour them into a drain unless instructed to do so. You can greatly lower your chances of getting ketoacidosis by managing your diabetes well. This includes taking all your medicines, including your insulin, as you are told. Measure your blood sugar often to make sure it is not too high or too low. If you are sick, you may need to talk with your healthcare provider about changing your insulin dose for a short time. You might need more insulin than normal when you are sick. Call your healthcare provider if your blood sugar is high, or if you have symptoms. This may help prevent more severe ketoacidosis.

If you’re a cheesecake lover like me, sometimes you want just a serving right? You don’t necessarily feel like making a large standard cheesecake with 8 or 12 servings. Some days or nights you just want a piece, am I right? In fact I could eat a piece every night if I can fit it into my macros for the day! But maybe you’re like me and having a large cheesecake in the house might be too tempting to not indulge in every day or maybe you just won’t be able to stick to one serving?
Search egg substitutes. I like flaxseed that I grind in a coffee mill, one tablespoon to 3 tablespoons water for each egg. Let that soak while you are preparing the rest of the. You can also use flaxseeds for a flour. I bought a bag of it from country life natural foods in Putnam Michigan online. They have lots of non GMO and organic food and their peanuts, they say, are non GMO. You can mix half almond flour or use it alone, I guess, and it has a better flavor. I am surprised they don’t ask for salt in the bread recipe but I add a teaspoon or less , since the butter is salted.

When plasma glucose becomes < 200 mg/dL (< 11.1 mmol/L) in adults, 5% dextrose should be added to IV fluids to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia. Insulin dosage can then be reduced to 0.02 to 0.05 unit/kg/h, but the continuous IV infusion of regular insulin should be maintained until the anion gap has narrowed and blood and urine are consistently negative for ketones. Insulin replacement may then be switched to regular insulin 5 to 10 units sc q 4 to 6 h. When the patient is stable and able to eat, a typical split-mixed or basal-bolus insulin regimen is begun. IV insulin should be continued for 1 to 4 h after the initial dose of sc insulin is given. Children should continue to receive 0.05 unit/kg/h insulin infusion until sc insulin is initiated and pH is > 7.3.

This is a classic breakfast for a reason: It's delicious, and the steak and eggs each pack a monster punch of protein to keep you fueled up till lunch. Next time you're grilling up steak at night, cook a little extra with incredible keto breakfast leftovers in mind. Tasteaholic's take uses sirloin, a leaner cut of beef, but feel free to use what you have on hand.

Another concern is the potential for adverse effects on bone healing, particularly spinal fusion.1278,1279 Evidence suggests that nonunion of the spine is associated only with large dose and not low-dose ketorolac. Ketorolac has been used safely to provide analgesia for other types of orthopedic conditions as well.1280,1281 One other concern is the report of sudden and profound bradycardia after rapid IV administration of ketorolac.1282 Although the mechanism of this response is unclear, ketorolac should be administered slowly when given intravenously.
Whipping an egg is genius ! Thank you, Lisa.! I’ve been looking for a no machine type of recipe that doesn’t have me stirring the mixture every 5 minutes while it freezes in the freezer, which sounds unreasonable… not to mention hard on my arm, lol! This recipe sounds like it uses old fashioned ingenuity instead of testy machinery or nearly impossible methods. I’m trying this soon and I have a feeling it will be with me for many years! Thank you sooo much. 🙂
He quickly realized this morning latte increased his energy, stabilized his blood sugar, and improved his cognitive function and mental clarity. He started sharing his butter coffee creation with his Silicon Valley community and the rest was history. A cult-like following of bulletproof coffee drinkers were born and the trend has been climbing upwards ever since.
-Cancer: Numerous studies have found that the risk for cancer increases with high blood sugar, which makes sense, since cancer cells feed primarily on glucose. This includes cancers of the endometrium, pancreas, and colon and colorectal tumors. Tim Ferriss recently hosted a fantastic article by Peter Attia about this very issue, and how ketosis may indeed be a potential cancer cure.
If you are sensitive to caffeine, then this one may not be the best option. However, if you are a big coffee or tea drinker, try out this Fat Burning Coffee or this Keto Matcha Green Tea to provide a caffeine boost and dose of healthy fats to get your day started. This combination is especially great for those who find themselves with massive cravings around lunch time.
The oral medication is somewhat better absorbed when it is taken with a fatty meal or acidic drink (e.g. orange juice). It is bound to proteins such as albumin in the circulating blood and is widely distributed in body tissues. It takes three to ten hours for half of the medication to be cleared from the blood stream. The rest is eliminated in faeces and urine either unchanged or after conversion by the liver into inactive compounds.
Thanks so much Kelly! Not sure what the Atkins intro is, but I’m sure they have their reasons! Maybe if it’s slower it’s to ease the detox symptoms that cause some people to quit and then figure it’s better to ease into it. Personally I’m about ripping off the bandaid and getting it over with, ya know? So glad you and your husband are on board – keep us posted on your progress!!!

I have a question on sugar since I see it’s not allowed. Is splenda or any other sugar subsitute ok? What if one of the ingredients that is required for a keto recipe contains sugar, does it matter? I haven’t really seen any discussion on how some things may already contain sugar (even if in low doses) may affect the keto diet. Should they be avoided altogether?
Thanks for the recipe Katie. It is definitely a task sifting through all the info on keto diet. Lots of stuff on how to start the diet. I’m thinking results come from sticking to it and “finishing” the diet, aka changing lifestyle. I’ve found with other things that having a mentor is crucial. It creates accountability and reminds you that you really are on the right track!

Ok so these were hands down the BEST pancake recipe. I couldn’t tell they were low carb- tasted exactly like the real deal. I made the exact batch divided it by 2 ( saved 1/2 for tomorrow ) and had 3 pancakes each for a net carb of 9  per portion and that’s including 1/8 cup of Carys sugar free syrup and 15 grams of frozen organic blueberries. Just under 450 calories and a great way to break my fast. This also included 1/2 Tbsp ghee I cooked then in. I’m very precise to the gram on my macros!!! Totally worth it in my books .. thank you – thank you – thank you !!!! A definite keeper !!!
Though it features one of our favorite veggies, carrot cake doesn’t typically fall into the ‘health food’ category—unless it’s this recipe from This Mom’s Menu. (Don’t worry, there’s still cream cheese frosting.) The recipe swaps sugar for erythritol and also calls for butter, eggs, unsweetened almond milk, vanilla extract, almond flour, coconut flour, baking powder, cinnamon, ground allspice, and (of course!) carrots. First, preheat the oven to 350°F and line the bottom of a cake pan with parchment paper. While the cake cooks (about 20 minutes at 350 degrees), you’ll whip up a too-good-to-be-true frosting made with cream cheese, butter, vanilla, heavy cream, and erythritol. Just don’t forget to let the cake cool before frosting it up!

Every recipe is less than 10 grams of carbs per serving. All recipes are gluten free and made only from whole, real, easy to find foods that you can find at your local grocery store. New resources are added to the plans each week. All the best information to help keep you on track with your low carb, keto lifestyle. I've even included a journal where you can track what you eat, how much you moved and how you are feeling overall. It is definitely the most comprehensive low carb meal plan out there. And for only $4.99 per week, you simply cannot beat the price.
I am new to keto and the biggest struggle is giving up rice and beans—waaaah I don’t feel like giving up but my Caribbean palate is having a hard time adapting. I love this post as a starting point. It’s been three days so far and I’m already making mistakes. I will make some modifications to the meal suggestions and I just ordered some keto strips. Thank you for this post.
When you begin to restrict carbs from the diet, the kidneys (the body’s filtration system) switch from retaining sodium (aka salt) to rapidly excreting it, along with excess water in the body (Volek, 2011). During the clearance of extra sodium and water from the body, many people experience rapid weight loss. While it may be exciting to see the scale move in a downward direction, know that this is not true weight loss from fat, but instead from the water loss. Therefore, it is important that you replace some of the sodium and water that you are excreting because if these are not replaced, it is likely that you will experience symptoms of keto flu.
I was leery at first about the amounts for the crust but was surprised at how much the butter and erythritol bulked it up. I have Lakanto Golden so I used that in the crust and I think it really helped up the ante on the graham cracker flavor. I couldn’t figure out how my recipe was so much higher in calories (specifically fat), even before I top it. I’ve just now realized the crust calls for 1 1/2 TEASPOONS butter not TBSP butter. May I humbly suggest you adjust that to reflect the gram amount, like the cheesecake portion does? That’s 7 grams correct? LOL, I’ve used three times that.

Keto bread – as oxymoronic as it sounds – is the real deal. Whether or you go for light and flaky or dense and moist – gluten-free, low-carb bread recipes abound these days. Here are nine of the best keto bread recipes – from the O.G. Bulletproof keto loaf to a keto blueberry lemon breakfast bread. If you’re gunning for a bun for your burger or naan for Indian food, we’ve got you covered there too with the best in keto bread recipes.
Oh my goodness…..I don’t usually post on blogs recipes, but i have to make an exception for this one! These were so incredibly good!!! My daughter wanted to make fired pancakes for dinner, so I found this recipe and she fried them up. These were amazing! Not eggy, and the texture was great. After trying these I was thinking that maybe it would be a good batter for fried pickles or zucchini. I am going to experiment. This is such a great recipe! Thank you so much. Now I can have pancakes again!
Cheryl, We use beef gelatin in this recipe to act as a binder and add a bit more chewiness to help simulate regular bread. (If you’re interested, we talk more about using beef gelatin in keto baking in this post: We haven’t experimented with this recipe to omit the beef gelatin, but you might be able to get a similar result using a bit more psyllium husk powder, flaxseed meal, ground chia seeds, xanthan gum, or guar gum. If you decide to play around with the recipe, please let us know how it goes!
I never even liked pancakes to begin with. In the days before keto, I never ordered pancakes at diners, or ever thought highly of them. It’s just that my idea of a treat involved pounds of chocolate in all different forms. Pancakes to me were just round pieces of bread in a stack. They were delicious, but I never craved them as much as brownies or cookies.
There is no consistent evidence that concurrent use of aspirin mitigates the increased risk of serious CV thrombotic events associated with NSAID use. The concurrent use of aspirin and an NSAID does increase the risk of serious GI events (see Gastrointestinal Effects - Risk of Ulceration, Bleeding, and Perforation). Two large, controlled clinical trials of a COX-2 selective NSAID for the treatment of pain in the first 10-14 days following CABG surgery found an increased incidence of myocardial infarction and stroke (see CONTRAINDICATIONS).
Ketorolac is used for the short-term treatment of moderate to severe pain. It is usually used before or after medical procedures or after surgery. Reducing pain helps you recover more comfortably so that you can return to your normal daily activities. This medication is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by blocking your body's production of certain natural substances that cause inflammation. This effect helps to decrease swelling, pain, or fever.

The former NFL star loves adding avocados to his daily diet as part of the keto program. “I have to take in a lot of fat, and the number one fat comes from avocados,” he told GQ. “It’s a super food. And even if that’s not your diet, it’s incredible food for you. I put them in my smoothies, guacamole, a bunch of different things. For me it’s more than just trying to stay in shape for sports, it’s a way of life, of trying to be healthy.”
The mean initial weight of the subjects was 101.03±2.33 kg. The weight decreased significantly during all stages of the treatment period. The body weights at the eighth, 16th and 24th week were 91.10±2.76 kg, 89.39±3.4 kg and 86.67±3.70 kg, respectively (Figure 1). Similar to the loss in body weight, a significant decrease was observed in the BMI of the patients following the administration of the ketogenic diet. The initial BMI, and the BMI after the eighth, 16th and 24th week were 37.77±0.79 kg/m2, 33.90±0.83 kg/m2, 33.24±1.00 kg/m2 and 32.06±1.13 kg/m2, respectively (Figure 2).

A great benefit of being keto adapted is that if  you eat a cheat meal or fall off the wagon for a day or two, you will re-enter ketosis much faster. When your body is primed to use fat for fuel, it will more readily do so when reintroduced than someone who has just started a low carb diet. This comes in quite handy when one is fasting. A keto adapted body will go into a fasting state much faster than one that is not. For more info, read all about intermittent fasting and how it can help you lose weight and break some plateaus.

If you find yourself needing a chocolate treat that won’t ruin your eating plan then these wonderful coconut bars could be the answer! They are low in carbs, higher in healthy fats and are sugar-free but they taste so good that they are sure to satisfy any cravings. If you want to, you could even add some chopped pecan nuts into the mixture too. Just be sure to taste the mix before adding all the sweetener as you might not need it all.
Hi Liz, As far as the Swerve goes, most online calculators don’t subtract sugar alcohols when showing net carbs, so that may be the issue. Regarding the butter, all butter is keto approved (as long as it’s real butter). 🙂 If you calculated by hand, then let me know which ingredient is showing a lot of carbs for you and I can help determine what was off. The few net carbs in the recipe come from almond flour and cream cheese. The brands of pantry ingredients I use are linked in the recipe card (pink links). I use Kerrygold for the butter and Philadelphia for the cream cheese.

If you’ve been dairy free and struggling to find a keto treat that doesn’t include dairy, this is the pie for you! Decadent and dreamy, melt in your mouth creamy chocolate pie with a hint of vanilla and coconut to satisfy your dessert needs without the dairy. This pie is so silky that your friends and family won’t believe it’s dairy free! The main ingredient is coconut cream, which can lend a flavor of coconut, but it is paired perfectly with 70% dark chocolate that is both keto friendly ...

Together, glycogen loss and low insulin levels cause enough water and sodium to cause dizziness, nausea, cramping, headaches, and gastrointestinal issues — some of the most common keto flu symptoms. Luckily, these symptoms can be avoided by drinking plenty of water and supplementing with minerals (more on that later). However, even if you replenish your fluids and minerals, you can still experience keto flu symptoms like fatigue and brain fog due to hormonal changes.
-Pancreatic Dysfunction: The beta cells in the pancreas that produce the insulin to help control blood sugar become dysfunctional with high blood glucose, raising the risk for type 2 diabetes. Researchers have discovered that beta cell issues are detectable in people whose glucose levels spike two hours after eating, despite those levels staying within the range considered normal and safe by the medical establishment.

On most diets you’ve tried in the past, your mind was probably much harder to fight than your body. Maybe you’ve never been on a diet that caused you to go through any form of withdrawal, and that’s where you’ll find the greatest source of power when it comes to Keto! With Keto, once your body goes through withdrawal, you’ll find that the temptations you used to face (thoughts of wanting to cheat, cravings, starving) those things will not be a problem for you.
We know the keto diet restricts carbohydrates, but what can you eat? Actually carbohydrates are allowed, but in very small amounts — less than 30 grams per day (for perspective, a medium apple contains about 25 grams of carbs). The diet focuses on meats, eggs, cheese, fish, nuts, butters, oil, heavy cream, mayonnaise and low-carb vegetables such as kale and broccoli.
This article is excellent and I’ve actually read it a few times just to make sure I’m absorbing as much as possible. With that said can we talk a bit about protein? Why does it seem like protein is taking a back seat? What about the athlete who needs to maintain and/or increase muscle mass. I don’t want to make any assumptions and with all the research I’ve done along with personal testing into Keto it just seems to me that protein and its benefits are not a discussion point in this diet. Why?
Being healthy is all about getting the right nutrients and vitamins from your food so always include variety in your diet. Have plenty of meat (or fish), dairy and veggies on a daily basis based on this low carb food list. Use coconut oil and olive oil when you cook and in your salads (respectively) and have a handful of nuts or berries from time to time.
Just curious…is the texture of the finished cheesecake creamy or airy? I ask because I made a cheesecake yesterday, that turned out airy (quite like baking eggs in a quiche), and while it had a great flavor, the texture was definitely NOT what we were looking for. I would love to try this recipe, but I’m hoping others can help with the texture question before I try.
If you have health reasons that make you want to try it and eating bacon, eggs and steak salads every day sounds amazing, maybe you could swing it. If nothing makes you happier than a fresh piece of sourdough, or if beans are one of the protein sources you rely on, there’s no point in trying a diet that’s not going to work. (And, by the way, sourdough toast with mashed avocado for breakfast and black bean soup for lunch are really delicious and healthy.)
The ketogenic diet is a medical nutrition therapy that involves participants from various disciplines. Team members include a registered paediatric dietitian who coordinates the diet programme; a paediatric neurologist who is experienced in offering the ketogenic diet; and a registered nurse who is familiar with childhood epilepsy. Additional help may come from a medical social worker who works with the family and a pharmacist who can advise on the carbohydrate content of medicines. Lastly, the parents and other caregivers must be educated in many aspects of the diet for it to be safely implemented.[5]
For me, having a good keto breakfast is difficult. Bacon and eggs are great, but my tastebuds get bored quickly. That’s why I’ve been inventing new keto breakfast ideas on my own, some even involve a little fruit! I find that eating your fruit carbs in the morning (if you’re like me and can stay in ketosis) is good for your overall well-being. Orange juice is off the list, but I try to include berries often!
If dark chocolate tastes too rich for you, this keto dessert creates a creamy alternative using whey protein, cocoa butter, erythritol, and unsweetened chocolate. Using a double boiler melts the chocolate gently and creates a satisfying milk chocolate flavor with 1 net carb per serving. To keep it Bulletproof, use a grass-fed whey and keep the heat on the lowest setting possible.

So glad I came across this recipe. I used the exact recipe except I used Philly 1/3 fat cream cheese. Used a Nutri Bullet to blend and it was so easy to throw all ingredients in the blender container. I used Truvia for the sweetener and Walden’s Farm No Cal No Carb Maple Syrup I purchase at Publix grocery. Very Yummy. I could tell by the batter that I was not going to get thick fluffy pancakes, but that was fine with me. I love crepes and these were somewhere in between. I just made smaller round cakes and stacked them, so they appeared thicker. While cooking them, something about the look of the pancakes reminded me of grilled cheese, so next I am going to make two of these without the sweetener and put shredded cheese in between. Trying to decide why other readers were getting an eggy taste, Perhaps the Walden’s Farm Syrup covered it up on mine, but I definitely did not get the egg taste. Thanks again !
I’ve made this recipe 5 times in the past 3 months. It’s super easy and scrumptiously delicious. Even if there were more than 3 net carbs/slice it is so worth it! Most of the people who I’ve served it to are not on a diet or not eating keto, but they’ve raved about it. Cheesecake Factory, eat your heart out. You got nothin’ compared to this cheesecake!
I’m very confused. The title is for a chili, yet the write up says Hungarian goulash. The instructions say to melt the butter yet there’s no butter listed in the ingredients. The ingredients lists sausage but the instructions don’t say sausage anywhere. The instructions also don’t mention anything about the cumin, cayenne, garlic powder, or chili powder. I’m hoping this comes out well as I didn’t notice the discrepancy until after I’d started cooking.
I’ve read other readers comments and I’m wondering if the only difference in using almond meal is the texture? Also, would the measurements be different if using almond meal? When I purchase my almond meal it says almond flour on the container, I did not know there was an almond flour that looks like regular flour. Wanting to try this recipe. It looks yummy.
Hi Danielle, yes, most Keto Recipes I’ve seen on social media don’t look very appealing to me either. I have a Keto Breakfast Casserole and a Green Smoothie on the blog you can use the search bar in the menu, just enter “keto” and they’ll all appear. I am also working on a 21-Day Keto Challenge e-book at the moment. If you’re interested in being notified when it’s ready I recommend signing up for my newsletter, safest way to not miss it.
A keto diet has shown to improve triglyceride levels and cholesterol levels most associated with arterial buildup. More specifically low-carb, high-fat diets show a dramatic increase in HDL and decrease in LDL particle concentration compared to low-fat diets.3A study in the long-term effects of a ketogenic diet shows a significant reduction in cholesterol levels, body weight, and blood glucose.
