You can make them any size you like, but I find them quite filling. Keto pancakes are more filling than regular. I agree that examining a recipe is a great idea regardless of what kind of recipe it is, but don’t think it’s fair to generalize all keto recipes. They are all different. 🙂 These pancakes are not salty tasting, even if you include the optional salt, which I do recommend. I hope you’ll try and like them!

I just want to say that I love your blog and am in love with your brownie recipe!! It’s a godsend and I was just as excited with this recipe as a result. Unfortunately, my bread fell short for some reason..No matter how long I toast it, it’s spongy and moist in the center…I’ve done everything as directed but substituted the butter for coconut oil. I measured it exactly too. Could that be why the bread is awfully wet in the middle or is there another reason? I tasted quite a bit of the psyllium husk as well which was okay..I’m thinking of making it with flax seed next time.

Easy: use about half of the recommended serving of Glycofuse, and instead add one scoop of Catalyte electrolytes, one scoop of Kion Aminos, and one serving of ketones and/or MCT’s in the form of Brain Octane, KetoCaNa or KETO//OS (pick your poison, it’s up to you). While any of these forms of ketones and/or MCT’s works for daily focus and short workouts, I found that for long workouts they aren’t very gut friendly unless you really spread out the dosage (e.g. one serving every three hours), so you’d only really use that stuff in something like, say, an Ironman triathlon or multi-day adventure race.

First off I just want to say thank you for the 3 day meal plan to get started. I stumbled across Keto about a week ago and I have been reading and reading and reading and then essentially got super confused and though that this was not for me! But then I came across your website and my my you break it down for people like me who are just looking for guidance to get started. (That’s because we shared and each only had 2 pancakes) I pureed some strawberries with a touch of agave instead of syrup, and these were to die for. Thank you Mellissa. I guess I need to set up a Reddit account. Several people have directed me there for Keto forums for one reason or another. I try not to let it get me down but I have been fluctuating really badly since I started this WOE and I have a feeling it has a lot to do with the hormones not being balanced. I came off of a prepackaged, doctor recommended food plan that really knocked me outta whack and helped me discover that I do indeed have an under-active thyroid, which I have known most of my life because I have always felt hormonally off balance and could never lose weight. It is also genetic in my family but doctors never listened to me and at most would run the basic blood test to appease me which always came back normal…which is common…and when they did, they would lecture me about losing weight and hand me a prescription for diet pills or give me info on some fad diet. Now I am trying to fix it with Keto and natural remedies. I feel better than I ever have in my life on the energy front and that was almost an instant feeling after switching to Keto. I hope I balance out soon because I am 35-40 lbs down since mid-May (depending on my fluctuation for the week) and have about 100+ to go. The frustrating part is I have now lost the same 3-5 lbs repeatedly over the past 5-6 weeks and all I can think is that could have been 20-30 lbs closer to my goal weight! I even considered going back on that nasty diet even though I felt terrible because I did lose consistently. I have confirmed my macros with some others who are more experienced and they are just as boggled as I am about the bad fluctuation.

oh yeah this is fantastic! I used a few chopped up chipotle peppers in adobe sauce instead of the jalapenos. It added a great smokey flavor! Also it was a bit thick, so I added some salsa that I had in the fridge! Finally, I added a little bit of sugar-free ketchup mixed with broth, to add more liquid. I know, that’s more carbs, but I like a chili with some broth. It was all just fine! This is a recipe that you can easily adapt to your own tastes, but the overall flavor still remains spicy which is fabulous! Just saying! Try it you won’t regret it.

Now I though about taking keto supplement to boost my ketosis (I’m also looking to boost my overall electrolyte and vitamin/mineral). I’m unsure what product to take. Should I take keto os or ketocana (or else)? Should I take it in the morning while I’m empty stomack for the next 6 hours (wake up at 5) with my mg cap so I get a boost in electrolyte and keto in the morning? Should I take more? Depending on the set, I might not have to take mg cap anymore since they all include some in it.
My personal preference when it comes to zero-sugar sweeteners is Swerve. I’ve found some sugar alcohols to be unfavorable to my digestive system, but Swerve seems to do just fine! For me, Swerve tastes closest to actual sugar without that sugar alcohol flavor. Other great sweetener options are Stevia, Monk Fruit Sweetener,  Erythritol, and Xylitol.
I made these and they were so much like the real thing my hubby didn’t even know they were low carb! I swapped almond milk with unsweetened hemp milk and used 4tbs of butter instead of avocado oil (simply because I didn’t have it on hand). I also added a drop of torrani sugar free caramel syrup in the batter because they just didn’t taste sweet to me. The end result was amazing. A few tips I learned. Cook on medium and be patient with the batter. For me too fast they would fall apart in the middle. Slow and steady worked wonders. Also, the consistency was more like cornbread batter. I used a spoon to transfer the batter to the pan. Once so gained a knack at the cooking time/temp which is not the same as regular pancakes….I was set up with enough pancakes for a few days!

I often get a slightly different number of pancakes each time I make them, and just divide the total by the number of servings to get the amount per serving. With your pan your results are probably more consistent, but you can still use the method I mentioned to calculate per serving based on how many servings you are getting.

Just starting to test the water with this keto diet stuff and this is one of the first things we’ll be making. I popped the recipie into MyFitnessPal, though, and the cals per serving come to only 169! I’ve double checked it and can’t seem to find any errors. How did you figure your calories? Perhaps with garnishes like avocado, sour cream, cheese, etc?

We love, love your recipe so much. Thank you for posting it. We’ve adapted it a bit for us and my husband asks for it every Sunday. Since we like to save some to reheat for breakfast for the work week and need to add in more greens this is what we do: when the ground beef is halfway browned we add a large handful of spinach. Then we also add a handful of tomatoes to the egg mixture. We also skip the cheese for my husband. This way it reheats really well during the week. Thanks again

I have read all the info on the sight but I am still having trouble understanding how to get the amount of protein, carbs and fats. Best thing to do for your cheesecake not to crack. Turn off the oven just when it’s still almost slight done. turn off the heat and leave in the oven for an hour. But DO NOT open the door at all. The residual heat will cook the rest and you won’t run the risk of overcooking and it’ll cool at the same time. Then take out of the oven to cool completely and refrigerate. I love cheesecake and keto cheesecake is just as good and satisfies the cravings.
Add the chili powder, oregano, cumin, and salt. Cook, stirring constantly, until fragrant, about 1 minute. Taste for spiciness and add the paprika and/or cayenne if desired. Reduce the heat to medium-low and clear a space in the middle of the pan. Add the tomato paste in the space and fry, stirring constantly, until darkened in color, about 1 minute. Add the wine and broth and stir to combine. Simmer, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is glossy and has thickened, 10 to 15 minutes. Taste and season with salt as needed. I just made these this morning. We started the Keto diet about 2 weeks ago and it’s been an amazing change for us, but we were getting tired of bacon and eggs or smoothies for breakfast. OMG!!! I just got done making these and they are the best keto pancakes I’ve ever made! I doubled the batch because I wanted to freeze some for the week, even though I didn’t know what they would taste like, but I liked the ingredients. My 12-yr old daughter walks in and asks if she can have some of course I say sure help yourself. After I was finally done cooking them all I turn and she is going on her 6th pancake!!! lol! She is gushing about how good they are! Then as I’m making myself a plate my 6-yr old comes in, “I’m hungry”, so I give him a pancake or 4!! He says they are the best pancakes he’s ever eaten. Now I’m excited to take my first bite, and it did not disappoint. I made a blackberry compote with a little swerve and it was delish!! Thank you for the great recipe, I’ll be using it a lot more and in triple batches next time so I have some to freeze since it didn’t happen this time.
Not this recipe specifically (since I’m going to try it tonight!), but in other machine-based ice cream recipes, a splash of vodka–I did about 1 shot’s worth–does help keep it softer. My kids didn’t say anything about it tasting funny (they were unaware that it had vodka) and it’s such a small amount it isn’t a problem. I used ghetto vodka, too, so a higher-shelf brand would probably be even less noticeable!
I am curious if someone takes any or too much MCT oil (5-10 tablespoons/day) or Exogenous Ketones will the liver slow/stall or shut off endogenous ketone production as you are providing the ketones exogenously and thereby you may NEED to supplement ketones to maintain ketone levels or you may suffer a short term ketone deficit while the liver adjusts to making them on its own again. A parallel I am thinking of is exogenous testosterone supplementation and the hypothalamus/endocrine system slowing/stopping endogenous testosterone production (seen in bodybuilders).
Yeast should not get that ineffective even when it’s old. How long do you let the bread rise for? I usually let it go for an hour. My house is cold so I came up with the idea of leaving it to rise, covered, in the microwave with the light on underneath. This is after I heated up water for some time (be careful to not leave it in until the water explodes!) in the microwave. This creates a warm environment. For the last couple of batches I warmed the oven to 170 and turned it off then left the bread in, covered, for an hour. It rose like a champion. Good luck!

So glad I came across this recipe. I used the exact recipe except I used Philly 1/3 fat cream cheese. Used a Nutri Bullet to blend and it was so easy to throw all ingredients in the blender container. I used Truvia for the sweetener and Walden’s Farm No Cal No Carb Maple Syrup I purchase at Publix grocery. Very Yummy. I could tell by the batter that I was not going to get thick fluffy pancakes, but that was fine with me. I love crepes and these were somewhere in between. I just made smaller round cakes and stacked them, so they appeared thicker. While cooking them, something about the look of the pancakes reminded me of grilled cheese, so next I am going to make two of these without the sweetener and put shredded cheese in between. Trying to decide why other readers were getting an eggy taste, Perhaps the Walden’s Farm Syrup covered it up on mine, but I definitely did not get the egg taste. Thanks again !
Hey, thanks Rosemary and Trisha, for the feedback on using the immersion blender! I’d like to try a little coconut too, but was wondering if it all might settle at the bottom. Perhaps it wouldn’t if the jar was shaken periodically. Also, laying the jar on it’s side in between shaking might help. Anyway, I won’t do the silicone cups again–the frozen ice cream did not pop out as I’d hoped it would. Still, I felt the chocolate was sufficient, especially when the cinnamon was added. Hi Cindy, nut flour breads do not rise as much as wheat breads. Also, I used a small bread tin in the post – if you use a regular size bread pan your bread will end up flatter. What you can try next time is to try to keep the dough nice and fluffy, trying to keep as much air inside as possible (for example, not press it into the pan as much as you can). You could also try to whisk the egg whites until they’re stiff and fold them under last, which will make your dough lighter (=more air). I hope this helps
Hi Molly, I think the almond meal was the problem, it can lead to a grainy texture. I recommend using fine blanched almond flour, like this one or this one. I also tested these a couple more times and you’re right, a little more milk was needed. I updated the recipe hard with the flour clarification and a little more milk. I hope you get the chance to try them that way.

Ben. I do not read epidemiological studies anymore… Just biology. There are plenty of examples of traditional cultures consuming high carb (and high fat) without any of the health issues those studies in your article claim. So either high fat or high carb both work if done properly… AND in the right environment. Both are ancestral not just one of the two and have posit and negat because it has to do with the climate and environment around. I do not listen to anybody that pushes JUST one because they are ignoring the reality. I hope you join this "common sense" wagon.

I use Pyure almost exclusively now. Pyure says for every cup of sugar, you’d use half as much Pyure. However, I’ve found 1/3 is enough. I make iced tea by the gallon, and where I used to use a cup of sugar, I use 1/3 a cup of Pyure. I’ve found that even a half cup of Pyure makes the tea too sweet. I guess it all comes down to personal taste, but I find 1/3 a cup of Pyure is every bit as sweet as 1 full cup of sugar.

Hands down, the absolute best low carb bread recipe ever!!! I made it last night and I am blown away!!! I’ve tried a lot of low carb bread recipes trying to find something close to the “carby” bread I once loved, and you have solved my dilemma. This bread is better than the carb-laden kind (in my opinion) and I am so happy to be able to enjoy toast, sandwiches and any other idea that comes to my mind for utilizing this bread. Hi Arielle, Yes, you can add more vanilla and lemon if you’d like. It should work fine as long as it’s not too much lemon juice. You could add some very finely grated lemon zest instead of more lemon juice to avoid changing the consistency. The fruit sauce with raspberries is also keto – berries can fit into keto diets in reasonable amounts. If you use a higher sugar fruit, it might not be, but with any berries it should be fine. Hi Cynthia! The book required separating the eggs, beating the whites, and it was so labor intensive, and in my opinion not worth it because they were too airy and not at all satisfying. I prefer this way because it’s not only easier, I like the texture much better. To get them more like real pancakes I also sometimes add 1 tsp of baking powder and 2 Tbsp of coconut flour! Also, you must have read my mind (stop that, lol) because the Spring ezine is almost ready to publish and in it I have 5 savory recipes using the pancakes – including lasagna and enchiladas! Can’t wait to finish the final touches so you guys can check it out!
I have made these a few times now and they are one of our favorite keto cookies. I used xylitol this time and had great success. I was also chatting while preparing and forgot to pat down the balls of dough prior to baking. I remembered this about 2 minutes before they were done, so I whipped the pan out of the oven and pressed softly with a spatula. They turned out moist and chewy like a macaroon. I keep mine in the freezer so they are always like freshly baked when we enjoy them. Thanks for a great recipe!
This morning I calculated my keto and signed up on my fitness pal food calculator as you suggested on your website. More I read about keto more curious I get…. Last two days I ate without thinking much about portions, but today I used all your delicious recipes and made combination of meals for the day and followed my macro numbers to almost exact numbers and grams. Which meant less snacks in-between meals in my case. I also have been drinking around 120oz of water( including coffee and herbal mint tea) everyday! Can’t wait to see what happens at tomorrow morning weigh in!
