You can make them any size you like, but I find them quite filling. Keto pancakes are more filling than regular. I agree that examining a recipe is a great idea regardless of what kind of recipe it is, but don’t think it’s fair to generalize all keto recipes. They are all different. 🙂 These pancakes are not salty tasting, even if you include the optional salt, which I do recommend. I hope you’ll try and like them!
If you are less concerned about how insanely rich your ice cream is, you can dabble with other milk options such as almond milk or cashew milk, or incorporate blended soaked cashews into the ice cream (just like you’re making vegan cheesecake ). Again, know that using nuts and nut-based milks will add carbohydrates to the ice cream, so be cognizant of that if you’re keto.
In case you haven’t jumped on the keto train and are wondering what exactly all the hype is about, here you go: The diet is very high fat and (almost) no carb. The ratio of fat to carbs and protein is 4:1. The goal of the ketogenic diet is to burn fat for energy rather than carbohydrates, resulting in weight loss. And, advocates claim there are many benefits beyond the number on the scale going down.
Thank you for such a wonderful informative article. You give everyone all this knowledge for free & people still want more. Give me printable versions of food list & protein charts. I just want to say that I love your blog and am in love with your brownie recipe!! It’s a godsend and I was just as excited with this recipe as a result. Unfortunately, my bread fell short for some reason..No matter how long I toast it, it’s spongy and moist in the center…I’ve done everything as directed but substituted the butter for coconut oil. I measured it exactly too. Could that be why the bread is awfully wet in the middle or is there another reason? I tasted quite a bit of the psyllium husk as well which was okay..I’m thinking of making it with flax seed next time.
Ketoconazole is used to treat skin infections such as athlete's foot, jock itch, ringworm, and certain kinds of dandruff. This medication is also used to treat a skin condition known as pityriasis (tinea versicolor), a fungal infection that causes a lightening or darkening of the skin of the neck, chest, arms, or legs. Ketoconazole is an azole antifungal that works by preventing the growth of fungus.
Thanks for all of the great info!! I have Hashimoto’s and would really like to try a high fat/low carb diet. You mentioned that this might not be a good option for people with thyroid issues. How do you recommend I modify my diet to lose weight taking into consideration the Hashimoto’s. I take Westhroid, a non-synthetic thyroid supplement to help with my sluggish thyroid. Thanks so much for any advice you can give me. :)
Easy: use about half of the recommended serving of Glycofuse, and instead add one scoop of Catalyte electrolytes, one scoop of Kion Aminos, and one serving of ketones and/or MCT’s in the form of Brain Octane, KetoCaNa or KETO//OS (pick your poison, it’s up to you). While any of these forms of ketones and/or MCT’s works for daily focus and short workouts, I found that for long workouts they aren’t very gut friendly unless you really spread out the dosage (e.g. one serving every three hours), so you’d only really use that stuff in something like, say, an Ironman triathlon or multi-day adventure race.
Pizza for breakfast? You betchya! This recipe by All Day I Dream About Food slashes carbs by subbing in cauliflower for the standard wheat flour crust, and racks up plenty of fats and protein with toppings like cheese, sausage, eggs, and avocado. It’s as gooey and crispy as your favorite pizza pie, but costs you a slim 5.43 grams of net carbs a serving. Perfect for relaxing weekend mornings or keto-friendly brunch.
Made these! So delicious, thank you so much for creating this keto approved recipe. I had a terrible sweet tooth before starting keto and so when I get a craving for something sweet I love finding keto approved recipes to try out. This was so quick and easy and tastes the same to me, maybe even better, than regular lemon bars. I cut these smaller than normal to limit the calories a little bit more, basically made bite size pieces. Thanks again, love this recipe!
In Southern California, breakfast burritos and breakfast tacos are king. You can go to any local taqueria and order them. Some of my favorites are filled with carne asada, onions, cilantro and avocados, but since going low carb, we don’t frequent taco shops except to get guacamole and salsa to accompany our homemade beef fajita or chicken fajita dinners. Sometimes my husband will order a breakfast burrito, which is always HUGE, and just eat the filling, pushing aside the potatoes or requesting that they be left out entirely.
tell your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking or plan to take. Be sure to mention the medications listed in the IMPORTANT WARNING section and any of the following: antidepressants; angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors such as benazepril (Lotensin, in Lotrel), captopril, enalapril (Vasotec, in Vaseretic), fosinopril, lisinopril (in Zestoretic), moexipril (Univasc), perindopril (Aceon, in Prestalia), quinapril (Accupril, in Quinaretic), ramipril (Altace), and trandolapril (Mavik, in Tarka); angiotensin receptor blockers such as candesartan (Atacand, in Atacand HCT), eprosartan (Teveten), irbesartan (Avapro, in Avalide), losartan (Cozaar, in Hyzaar), olmesartan (Benicar, in Azor, in Benicar HCT, in Tribenzor), telmisartan (Micardis, in Micardis HCT, in Twynsta), and valsartan (in Exforge HCT); beta blockers such as atenolol (Tenormin, in Tenoretic), labetalol (Trandate), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL, in Dutoprol), nadolol (Corgard, in Corzide), and propranolol (Hemangeol, Inderal, InnoPran); medications for anxiety or mental illness; medications for seizures such as carbamazepine (Epitol, Tegretol, Teril, others) or phenytoin (Dilantin, Phenytek); methotrexate (Otrexup, Rasuvo, Trexall); sedatives; sleeping pills; and tranquilizers. Your doctor may need to change the doses of your medications or monitor you more carefully for side effects.
WOW…these are SO good! I made them and ate some about an hour ago, and I could do it all over again! (That’s because we shared and each only had 2 pancakes) I pureed some strawberries with a touch of agave instead of syrup, and these were to die for. I can’t wait to try a bunch of your other recipes like pizza crust and crackers?! tater tots??! OMG! I’m buying some flax meal & cauliflower ASAP! I’ve been trying so hard to cut down on carbs but I LOVE bread and potatoes! You may very well save my new way of eating…singlehandedly. Thank you SO much! :)
Thank you Mellissa. I guess I need to set up a Reddit account. Several people have directed me there for Keto forums for one reason or another. I try not to let it get me down but I have been fluctuating really badly since I started this WOE and I have a feeling it has a lot to do with the hormones not being balanced. I came off of a prepackaged, doctor recommended food plan that really knocked me outta whack and helped me discover that I do indeed have an under-active thyroid, which I have known most of my life because I have always felt hormonally off balance and could never lose weight. It is also genetic in my family but doctors never listened to me and at most would run the basic blood test to appease me which always came back normal…which is common…and when they did, they would lecture me about losing weight and hand me a prescription for diet pills or give me info on some fad diet. Now I am trying to fix it with Keto and natural remedies. I feel better than I ever have in my life on the energy front and that was almost an instant feeling after switching to Keto. I hope I balance out soon because I am 35-40 lbs down since mid-May (depending on my fluctuation for the week) and have about 100+ to go. The frustrating part is I have now lost the same 3-5 lbs repeatedly over the past 5-6 weeks and all I can think is that could have been 20-30 lbs closer to my goal weight! I even considered going back on that nasty diet even though I felt terrible because I did lose consistently. I have confirmed my macros with some others who are more experienced and they are just as boggled as I am about the bad fluctuation.
oh yeah this is fantastic! I used a few chopped up chipotle peppers in adobe sauce instead of the jalapenos. It added a great smokey flavor! Also it was a bit thick, so I added some salsa that I had in the fridge! Finally, I added a little bit of sugar-free ketchup mixed with broth, to add more liquid. I know, that’s more carbs, but I like a chili with some broth. It was all just fine! This is a recipe that you can easily adapt to your own tastes, but the overall flavor still remains spicy which is fabulous! Just saying! Try it you won’t regret it.
Selecting the right food will be easier as you become accustomed to the Keto approach. Instead of lean meats, you’ll focus on skin-on poultry, fattier parts like chicken thighs, rib-eye steaks, grass-fed ground beef, fattier fish like salmon, beef brisket or pork shoulder, and bacon. Leafy greens such as spinach, kale and lettuce, along with broccoli, cauliflower and cucumbers, make healthy vegetable choices (but you’ll avoid starchy root foods like carrots, potatoes, turnips and parsnips). You can work in less-familiar veggies such as kohlrabi or daikon.
People use a ketogenic diet most often to lose weight, but it can help manage certain medical conditions, like epilepsy, too. It also may help people with heart disease, certain brain diseases, and even acne, but there needs to be more research in those areas. Talk with your doctor first to find out if it’s safe for you to try a ketogenic diet, especially if you have type 1 diabetes.
Drug interactions may change how your medications work or increase your risk for serious side effects. This document does not contain all possible drug interactions. Keep a list of all the products you use (including prescription/nonprescription drugs and herbal products) and share it with your doctor and pharmacist. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicines without your doctor's approval. Some products that may interact with this drug include: aliskiren, ACE inhibitors (such as captopril, lisinopril), angiotensin II receptor blockers (such as valsartan, losartan), corticosteroids (such as prednisone), methotrexate, probenecid, other medications that may affect the kidneys (including cidofovir), "water pills" (diuretics such as furosemide). This medication may increase the risk of bleeding when used with other drugs that also may cause bleeding. Examples include anti-platelet drugs such as clopidogrel, "blood thinners" such as dabigatran/enoxaparin/warfarin, among others. This medication can slow down the removal of other medications from your body, which may affect how they work. Examples of affected drugs include lithium, pemetrexed, among others.Check all prescription and nonprescription medicine labels carefully since many medications contain pain relievers/fever reducers (aspirin, NSAIDs such as ibuprofen or naproxen). These drugs are similar to ketorolac and may increase your risk of side effects if taken together. However, if your doctor has directed you to take low-dose aspirin to prevent heart attack or stroke (usually at dosages of 81-325 milligrams a day), you should continue taking the aspirin unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more details.
Because of the known effects of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs on the fetal cardiovascular system (closure of ductus arteriosus), use during pregnancy (particularly late pregnancy) should be avoided. Oral doses of ketorolac tromethamine at 1.5 mg/kg (0.14 times the human AUC), administered after gestation Day 17, caused dystocia and higher pup mortality in rats.
Most clear liquors, other than flavored options, that are about 40% alcohol are considered low carb. Vodka, tequila and gin, mixed with seltzer or water are the best bets. Always avoid sweetened and flavored liquors when buying though. Not only are they not ketogenic, but Fruit-Loop flavored vodka isn’t necessarily in the spirit of Super Bowl Sunday.
If you've been assigned "meat and cheese tray" duty, then you've got an easy job (that's easily keto-compliant). But to go above and beyond, follow this guide to choosing a serving platter and selecting meats, cheeses, nuts, and produce that will have everyone wondering when you became so sophisticated. (These other Super Bowl recipes are full of fresh winter superfoods.)
Since this is my full-time job, donations really help me keep afloat and allow me to post as much to the website as I do. I really appreciate any donation you want to give, but you can change the price yourself. I’ve added in $15 as the suggested price. I think that’s a very fair price considering other websites are charging in the hundreds of dollars, and I’ve seen what they are like on the inside.
Now I though about taking keto supplement to boost my ketosis (I’m also looking to boost my overall electrolyte and vitamin/mineral). I’m unsure what product to take. Should I take keto os or ketocana (or else)? Should I take it in the morning while I’m empty stomack for the next 6 hours (wake up at 5) with my mg cap so I get a boost in electrolyte and keto in the morning? Should I take more? Depending on the set, I might not have to take mg cap anymore since they all include some in it.
I made these and they were so much like the real thing my hubby didn’t even know they were low carb! I swapped almond milk with unsweetened hemp milk and used 4tbs of butter instead of avocado oil (simply because I didn’t have it on hand). I also added a drop of torrani sugar free caramel syrup in the batter because they just didn’t taste sweet to me. The end result was amazing. A few tips I learned. Cook on medium and be patient with the batter. For me too fast they would fall apart in the middle. Slow and steady worked wonders. Also, the consistency was more like cornbread batter. I used a spoon to transfer the batter to the pan. Once so gained a knack at the cooking time/temp which is not the same as regular pancakes….I was set up with enough pancakes for a few days!
Magnesium is another important mineral that can make your transition to ketosis much easier. Although you won’t lose magnesium while you are restricting carbohydrates, it is essential for helping you prevent and treat cramps, improve sleep quality, and increase insulin sensitivity. Just add some pumpkin seeds, almonds, and spinach into your diet to get a decent dose of magnesium.
Oh, sorry about that! Normally a silver dollar is 1.5 inches in diameter but I wasn’t aware there is a special pan. Ultimately the exact number of pancakes will depend on the amount of batter used, which factors in the diameter but also the thickness. I often get a slightly different number of pancakes each time I make them, and just divide the total by the number of servings to get the amount per serving. With your pan your results are probably more consistent, but you can still use the method I mentioned to calculate per serving based on how many servings you are getting.
Get the same crunchy crust and cakey texture as regular cinnamon sugar donuts, without the sugar. With this keto dessert, you’ll make a simple batter with almond flour, butter, and eggs before baking and tossing in crunchy erythritol and cinnamon coating. Keep this one Bulletproof-friendly with Ceylon cinnamon and grass-fed butter, plus swap the almond milk with full-fat canned coconut milk.
It was the first time I ever made a cheese cake and debuted it for Thanksgiving dessert. I was impressed. There was not a piece remaining except for the piece I hid to eat the next day. A couple of things though: I think some of the water sneaked in and a New York cheesecake is typically heavier and more dense. Any tips on getting it to be a little more dense. I’m making another one tonight. Many thanks!
Just starting to test the water with this keto diet stuff and this is one of the first things we’ll be making. I popped the recipie into MyFitnessPal, though, and the cals per serving come to only 169! I’ve double checked it and can’t seem to find any errors. How did you figure your calories? Perhaps with garnishes like avocado, sour cream, cheese, etc?
Some athletes swear by the ketogenic diet, not just for weight loss but for improved performance in their sport, as well. But Edward Weiss, PhD, associate professor of nutrition and dietetics at Saint Louis University, doesn’t buy it. “I hear cyclists say all the time that they’re faster and better now that they’re on keto, and my first question is, 'Well, how much weight did you lose?'” he says.
^ Ketogenic "eggnog" is used during induction and is a drink with the required ketogenic ratio. For example, a 4:1 ratio eggnog would contain 60 g of 36% heavy whipping cream, 25 g pasteurised raw egg, saccharin and vanilla flavour. This contains 245 kcal (1,025 kJ), 4 g protein, 2 g carbohydrate and 24 g fat (24:6 = 4:1). The eggnog may also be cooked to make a custard, or frozen to make ice cream.
We love, love your recipe so much. Thank you for posting it. We’ve adapted it a bit for us and my husband asks for it every Sunday. Since we like to save some to reheat for breakfast for the work week and need to add in more greens this is what we do: when the ground beef is halfway browned we add a large handful of spinach. Then we also add a handful of tomatoes to the egg mixture. We also skip the cheese for my husband. This way it reheats really well during the week. Thanks again
If you’ve still got chips, cookies, bread, and soda in the house, there’s a chance temptation could win over—just a handful or two of pretzels, and you could totally derail your efforts to put your body into ketosis. There isn’t much wiggle room on the keto diet, which means there isn’t much room in your house for any food that isn’t keto-friendly. Get rid of whatever doesn’t make the cut and replace it with whatever does so that you still have plenty to eat.
Everyone loves a bagel, lox and eggs for breakfast. While lox and eggs are keto-approved, bagels can cost you 48 grams of carbs or more depending on the seasonings or flavor. These keto bagels by Keto Connecthave only 3 grams of net carbs a serving and don’t skimp on flavor, thanks to everything bagel seasoning. This blogger uses cream cheese, almond flour and cheese to provide good protein and fat, with 10 grams and 15 grams respectively.
Wow – that’s a lot of dairy! I’m gluten and dairy free, but I’ll watch your recipes to see what I can use. The thing that concerns me about the dairy is that casein in cheese has a molecular structure similar to gluten, difficult for my system to break that down. I wouldn’t be surprised if others with gluten issues also have the same problem. I, too, had the impression that fat = bad… but boy, am I really enjoying salads more with real vinaigrette, homemade with healthy oils. I’ve been low carb and almost sugar free for about two years because of a gut issue. But, I want to get back to cutting out the sugar… so I’ll be eager to see what you share.
If you’re sensitive to coffee in the morning, swap it for matcha, which will still give you that caffeine fix in a milder dosage. Plus, matcha has a great flavor that works well with sweet and savory items, like nuts, fruit and seeds. This breakfast bowl by Gnom Gnom uses chia seeds, nut milk, and coconut to provide 10 grams of fat and keeps carbs low at 0.5 net grams. For a smoother texture, add avocado.
For example, a key component of safe and lasting fat loss is your capability to tap into your body’s own storage fat for energy. This access to fat cannot happen if your body is constantly drawing on carbohydrate reserves and blood glucose for energy. In the type of moderate- to high-carbohydrate diets you’ve learned are widely recommended by prevailing nutrition science, not only does the utilization of fat for energy become far less crucial (since you’re constantly dumping readily available sugar sources into your body), but your metabolism never becomes efficient at using fat. There is a growing body of evidence proving that a high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet results in faster and more permanent weight loss than a low-fat diet. Furthermore, appetite satiety and dietary satisfaction significantly improve with a high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet that includes moderate protein.
I have read all the info on the sight but I am still having trouble understanding how to get the amount of protein, carbs and fats. I get keeping my carbs under 20 grams a day but not trying to determine the rest. Not sure what I am missing or I just don’t get it. If you can give any help it would really be appreciated. Thanks your site is wonderful !!
Thank you so much for posting this recipe, I made half a batch but substituted with hemp oil and they were delicious with Walden’s near zero pancake syrup. I had previously tried another recipe and they were awful so these are a godsend as I have just started the paleo path and missed my pancakes at the weekends. They were that good I`m having them for tea tonight as well lol!! Thanks again Celia
Best thing to do for your cheesecake not to crack. Turn off the oven just when it’s still almost slight done. turn off the heat and leave in the oven for an hour. But DO NOT open the door at all. The residual heat will cook the rest and you won’t run the risk of overcooking and it’ll cool at the same time. Then take out of the oven to cool completely and refrigerate. I love cheesecake and keto cheesecake is just as good and satisfies the cravings.
Add the chili powder, oregano, cumin, and salt. Cook, stirring constantly, until fragrant, about 1 minute. Taste for spiciness and add the paprika and/or cayenne if desired. Reduce the heat to medium-low and clear a space in the middle of the pan. Add the tomato paste in the space and fry, stirring constantly, until darkened in color, about 1 minute. Add the wine and broth and stir to combine. Simmer, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is glossy and has thickened, 10 to 15 minutes. Taste and season with salt as needed. Just before serving, stir in the vinegar.
I just made these this morning. We started the Keto diet about 2 weeks ago and it’s been an amazing change for us, but we were getting tired of bacon and eggs or smoothies for breakfast. This was a delicious, welcome change. I boiled some frozen, sliced, unsweetened strawberries with stevia for the syrup and my daughter said it tasted like Christmas!

One thing to keep in mind is that some people face a down period in the transition from a regular diet to a ketogenic lifestyle that may be discouraging. As your body shifts its metabolism and relearns how to burn fats, you may not experience the endless amounts of energy yet. Be patient! Reading up on the effects of keto flu can be helpful as well to familiarize yourself and learn how to troubleshoot common ketosis roadblocks along the way.
4.) Fill the dough into a loaf tin lined with baking paper. If you don’t use a silicone loaf pan line ALL SIDES with parchment paper so the bread will release easily. Smooth the top, but don’t press down too much – keep as much air in the dough as possible. Bake at 180 Celsius / 350 Fahrenheit for about 45 minutes or until a knife inserted comes out clean!
OMG!!! I just got done making these and they are the best keto pancakes I’ve ever made! I doubled the batch because I wanted to freeze some for the week, even though I didn’t know what they would taste like, but I liked the ingredients. My 12-yr old daughter walks in and asks if she can have some of course I say sure help yourself. After I was finally done cooking them all I turn and she is going on her 6th pancake!!! lol! She is gushing about how good they are! Then as I’m making myself a plate my 6-yr old comes in, “I’m hungry”, so I give him a pancake or 4!! He says they are the best pancakes he’s ever eaten. Now I’m excited to take my first bite, and it did not disappoint. I made a blackberry compote with a little swerve and it was delish!! Thank you for the great recipe, I’ll be using it a lot more and in triple batches next time so I have some to freeze since it didn’t happen this time.
Not this recipe specifically (since I’m going to try it tonight!), but in other machine-based ice cream recipes, a splash of vodka–I did about 1 shot’s worth–does help keep it softer. My kids didn’t say anything about it tasting funny (they were unaware that it had vodka) and it’s such a small amount it isn’t a problem. I used ghetto vodka, too, so a higher-shelf brand would probably be even less noticeable!
I am curious if someone takes any or too much MCT oil (5-10 tablespoons/day) or Exogenous Ketones will the liver slow/stall or shut off endogenous ketone production as you are providing the ketones exogenously and thereby you may NEED to supplement ketones to maintain ketone levels or you may suffer a short term ketone deficit while the liver adjusts to making them on its own again. A parallel I am thinking of is exogenous testosterone supplementation and the hypothalamus/endocrine system slowing/stopping endogenous testosterone production (seen in bodybuilders).
Yeast should not get that ineffective even when it’s old. How long do you let the bread rise for? I usually let it go for an hour. My house is cold so I came up with the idea of leaving it to rise, covered, in the microwave with the light on underneath. This is after I heated up water for some time (be careful to not leave it in until the water explodes!) in the microwave. This creates a warm environment. For the last couple of batches I warmed the oven to 170 and turned it off then left the bread in, covered, for an hour. It rose like a champion. Good luck!
Miss Mellissa…. I was doing *so well* with keto eating last summer and dropped some weight, but all the old (bad, bad) habits started sneaking in and I’m in one heck of a pickle. Just wanted to say “thanks” for this jump-start… Hopefully this will help me remember what I’m SUPPOSED to be doing. Got a long slog ahead of me, but I have hope I can make it. Your site is so, so helpful, and I really appreciate all you do. Thank you.
One of the mechanisms of a ketogenic diet in epilepsy may be related to increased availability of beta-hydroxybutyrate, a ketone body readily transported through the blood-brain barrier. In support of this hypothesis, it was found that a ketogenic diet was the treatment of choice for glucose transporter protein syndrome and pyruvate dehydrogenase deficiency, which are both associated with cerebral energy failure and seizures (26).
Breakfast can seem like a chore. For starters, it can be hard to find time to make something when you're rushing off to work. Plus, if you're on a diet where restrictions apply, it can be even harder, especially if the diet is keto. Most breakfast foods are high in carbs (think: pastries, muffins, cereals, oatmeal, etc.), so when you're on the keto diet and you're keeping your carb count as low as 25 net carbs per day, your go-tos are likely off-limits.
You’re transitioning. Your body is equipped to process a high intake of carbs and a lower intake of fat. Your body needs to create enzymes to be able to do this. In the transitional period, the brain may run low on energy which can lead to grogginess, nausea, and headaches. If you’re having a large problem with this, you can choose to reduce carb intake gradually.
This recipe is just amazing!!! Thank you for sharing! Quick question for you: I came up with 6 net carbs a serving (using Wellbee’s flour and taking all swerve carbs out if the equation). I see your nutrition facts list 3 but then a comment you wrote said 5. Any idea which it actually is for you and any guesses what the discrepancies could be?? Thanks again!

So glad I came across this recipe. I used the exact recipe except I used Philly 1/3 fat cream cheese. Used a Nutri Bullet to blend and it was so easy to throw all ingredients in the blender container. I used Truvia for the sweetener and Walden’s Farm No Cal No Carb Maple Syrup I purchase at Publix grocery. Very Yummy. I could tell by the batter that I was not going to get thick fluffy pancakes, but that was fine with me. I love crepes and these were somewhere in between. I just made smaller round cakes and stacked them, so they appeared thicker. While cooking them, something about the look of the pancakes reminded me of grilled cheese, so next I am going to make two of these without the sweetener and put shredded cheese in between. Trying to decide why other readers were getting an eggy taste, Perhaps the Walden’s Farm Syrup covered it up on mine, but I definitely did not get the egg taste. Thanks again !
Hey, thanks Rosemary and Trisha, for the feedback on using the immersion blender! I’d like to try a little coconut too, but was wondering if it all might settle at the bottom. Perhaps it wouldn’t if the jar was shaken periodically. Also, laying the jar on it’s side in between shaking might help. Anyway, I won’t do the silicone cups again–the frozen ice cream did not pop out as I’d hoped it would. Still, I felt the chocolate was sufficient, especially when the cinnamon was added. Thanks again for a great recipe, Kendra!
Hi Cindy, nut flour breads do not rise as much as wheat breads. Also, I used a small bread tin in the post – if you use a regular size bread pan your bread will end up flatter. What you can try next time is to try to keep the dough nice and fluffy, trying to keep as much air inside as possible (for example, not press it into the pan as much as you can). You could also try to whisk the egg whites until they’re stiff and fold them under last, which will make your dough lighter (=more air). I hope this helps
Hi Molly, I think the almond meal was the problem, it can lead to a grainy texture. I recommend using fine blanched almond flour, like this one or this one. I also tested these a couple more times and you’re right, a little more milk was needed. I updated the recipe hard with the flour clarification and a little more milk. I hope you get the chance to try them that way.
Ben. I do not read epidemiological studies anymore… Just biology. There are plenty of examples of traditional cultures consuming high carb (and high fat) without any of the health issues those studies in your article claim. So either high fat or high carb both work if done properly… AND in the right environment. Both are ancestral not just one of the two and have posit and negat because it has to do with the climate and environment around. I do not listen to anybody that pushes JUST one because they are ignoring the reality. I hope you join this "common sense" wagon.
Signs of diabetic ketoacidosis include a high blood glucose level, a high ketone level, dehydration, frequent urination, nausea, difficulty breathing, and dry skin. If you have poorly managed type 1 or type 2 diabetes, test your blood glucose level regularly before and after meals, and make sure you check your ketone level whenever your blood sugar is higher than 240 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL). I use Pyure almost exclusively now. Pyure says for every cup of sugar, you’d use half as much Pyure. However, I’ve found 1/3 is enough. I make iced tea by the gallon, and where I used to use a cup of sugar, I use 1/3 a cup of Pyure. I’ve found that even a half cup of Pyure makes the tea too sweet. I guess it all comes down to personal taste, but I find 1/3 a cup of Pyure is every bit as sweet as 1 full cup of sugar.
Hands down, the absolute best low carb bread recipe ever!!! I made it last night and I am blown away!!! I’ve tried a lot of low carb bread recipes trying to find something close to the “carby” bread I once loved, and you have solved my dilemma. This bread is better than the carb-laden kind (in my opinion) and I am so happy to be able to enjoy toast, sandwiches and any other idea that comes to my mind for utilizing this bread. I can’t wait to make another batch because I didn’t leave this one in quite long enough, but I am certain of it’s potential! God bless you.
The Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI) is widely considered one of the world’s top go-to resources for cutting-edge exercise and nutrition science advice – which is probably why Gatorade vending machines dot the campus here, and the majority of the kids seem to be walking around campus with a never-ending big gulp-sized cup full of sports drink.

Hi Arielle, Yes, you can add more vanilla and lemon if you’d like. It should work fine as long as it’s not too much lemon juice. You could add some very finely grated lemon zest instead of more lemon juice to avoid changing the consistency. The fruit sauce with raspberries is also keto – berries can fit into keto diets in reasonable amounts. If you use a higher sugar fruit, it might not be, but with any berries it should be fine. I’m glad you liked the recipe!

Hi Cynthia! The book required separating the eggs, beating the whites, and it was so labor intensive, and in my opinion not worth it because they were too airy and not at all satisfying. I prefer this way because it’s not only easier, I like the texture much better. To get them more like real pancakes I also sometimes add 1 tsp of baking powder and 2 Tbsp of coconut flour! Also, you must have read my mind (stop that, lol) because the Spring ezine is almost ready to publish and in it I have 5 savory recipes using the pancakes – including lasagna and enchiladas! Can’t wait to finish the final touches so you guys can check it out!
I have made these a few times now and they are one of our favorite keto cookies. I used xylitol this time and had great success. I was also chatting while preparing and forgot to pat down the balls of dough prior to baking. I remembered this about 2 minutes before they were done, so I whipped the pan out of the oven and pressed softly with a spatula. They turned out moist and chewy like a macaroon. I keep mine in the freezer so they are always like freshly baked when we enjoy them. Thanks for a great recipe!
This morning I calculated my keto and signed up on my fitness pal food calculator as you suggested on your website. More I read about keto more curious I get…. Last two days I ate without thinking much about portions, but today I used all your delicious recipes and made combination of meals for the day and followed my macro numbers to almost exact numbers and grams. Which meant less snacks in-between meals in my case. I also have been drinking around 120oz of water( including coffee and herbal mint tea) everyday! Can’t wait to see what happens at tomorrow morning weigh in!
